What qualifies you to be on Chief and Council? Education, training in Public Relations, I am passionate and care about our community. I am a Cultural Language Teacher for 8 years and actively involved in Community and attend all meetings. I am also a trained facilitator and cultural Ambassador. What does it mean to be on Chief and Council and Representing the community.   It means following the teachings of my grandfather. To be a voice for our Squamish Valley and Nation as whole. I am not influenced by anyone, I have my own mind and opinions. If my name is attached to something I want to make sure I know it represents our communities best interest. Wanting the better good for our people. What are your feelings with regards to the Governance Manual.   What are it’s good points and bad points. Please explain? Bad points is Manual should have been done by Membership or at least got input. Then there’s the whole confidentiality thing. I don’t see how we have to sign that ...

What qualifies you to be on Chief and Council? I believe what qualifies me to be on Chief and Council , is my ability to make decisions based on valid and real time information , reviewing the economics of the decision being made , and keeping the people in mind. What does it mean to be on Chief and Council and represent the community? I feel what it means to be on Chief and Council being a representative of the community is to be present and open with the people you represent , and not only listening to the concerns and grievances  but actively creating inclusive solutions and making sound decisions using tact and diplomacy but also being sensitive to the world around us . What are your feelings with regards to the Governance Manual?  What were its good points and bad points?  Please provide examples. The Governance Manual , In General i would view the Governance Manual as good policy, although reading through some points that stand out...

What qualifies you to be on council? I have spent the last five years dedicated to a charitable organization that I co-founded called Reconciliation Canada. Because we were such a little team in the beginning, I had multiple roles within the organization. I have dealt with financial statements, strategic planning, marketing, communications, fundraising, governmental relations and senior level management. We held two Walks for Reconciliation in Vancouver, which drew tens of thousands of people. Currently, I play a more off hands role with the organization as their Sr. Advisor. What does it mean to be on Chiefs and Council and represent the community? It means being accountable to our people regardless of circumstance, situation or opinion. Members have the right to be heard, and their wishes acted upon faithfully. My driving force around this election season is “no decisions about us, without us.” For too long decisions about our land, finances, and governance have been...

1.    What qualifies you to be on Chief and Council? In the past four years, I have grown substantially and have shown myself to be more serious politically, motivated and attentive to membership’s needs. From 2014-2016 I was appointed by Council to serve on the Nation’s Trust board. In that sense, I understand the pertinence of being able to read a financial statement and review our investment’s performance. I understand the importance of transparency behind who the Nation and Trust hires for its services such as in-house lawyers, auditors, and other administrative services. 2.      What does it mean to be on Chief and Council and represent the community? To be on Chief and Council will take a lot of responsibility. A lot of the issues Council faces on a weekly basis is complicated so it is necessary to be there and physically present. Council is elected to fulfill their fiduciary duty to serve in the best interest of its constituents. With ...

What qualifies you to be on Chief and Council?  I think with my educational background and business experience would qualify me to be a great asset to Chiefs and Council.  I believe that sitting at the table is a huge responsibility that I would take seriously.   Council is responsible for making million dollar decisions that effect many people.  I would help make the best-educated business decisions with memberships advice for our Nation.              What does it mean to be on Chief and Council and represent the community ?  It would   be an honour to represent our people. This is something I would continue to do in the outside world.  I will continue to be professional, honest, and transparent if I am elected.  I want to help our Nation with more entrepreneurial opportunities.  Being an Entrepreneur is the best decision I have ever made in my life, and I want o...

1. What qualifies you to be in Chief and Council? I would say what qualifies me is two-fold: I have experience understanding and navigating politicals systems. I understand how governance works and understand the role of Council. I have experience from serving on non-profit boards, the Vancouver Planning Commission, and leading different groups in various capacities. The second quality I would bring is that I would be an advocate for our members with an eye for real results. I don’t think it’s enough to just "speak up" but to also come forward with ideas. I would say too that I would want my plans to include input, feedback, and direction from our Members. 2. What does it mean to be on Chief and Council and represent the community? The way I see it... Council’s most significant role is to act as a fiduciary for our members. Our lands and assets, and the revenue generated from them are collectively owned by our Members and Councilors are chosen to make decis...
